Services for the public
Deaths and burial permits
Home examination, confirmation of death, burial permit and first death certificate (for first-degree relatives) — 24 hours a day.
Routine vaccination Free
Compulsory childhood vaccines on the national schedule — free for everyone living in Egypt, Egyptian or not — and the hepatitis B birth dose within 24 hours of delivery.
Travel and optional vaccines Fee applies
Travellers' vaccines with the International Certificate of Vaccination, and other optional vaccines.
Family health and primary care
Family planning, reproductive health counselling, and mother-and-child follow-up.
Presidential initiatives and national campaigns
A delivery point for public health initiatives (newborn hearing and thyroid screening, and more) and national vaccination campaigns.
Health education
Awareness sessions for visitors to the office, the local community and tourist facilities.

Before you come
What to bring
As set by the Ministry of Health and Population. Bringing everything the first time saves you a second trip.
The original plus two photocopies of every document.
Vaccinations, birth and death certificates and burial permits are all free, with no fees of any kind. Complaints: Ministry hotline 105.
Birth certificate (registering a newborn) Within 15 days

- The completed birth notification from the doctor or hospital where the baby was born
- Father's national ID — original + 2 copies
- Mother's national ID — original + 2 copies
- Marriage certificate — original + 2 copies
- National ID of the person reporting — original + 2 copies

- Report to the health office of the district where the birth took place, within 15 days — open daily from 8 am, except Friday

Death certificate / burial permit Within 24 hours

- The deceased's national ID — original + 2 copies
- National ID of the person reporting — original + 2 copies

- The health inspector examines and confirms the death
- The burial permit is issued
- The first death certificate is issued to first-degree relatives
Good to know
- Report to the health office of the district where the death occurred, within 24 hours of the death or of its being established
- Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week — this is the designated office for deaths

Travellers to affected countries are vaccinated according to the international epidemiological situation and their own health. Come well before you fly — each vaccine needs time to take effect.

Fees as set by the Ministry of Health and Population, in force since 1 December 2024. All compulsory routine vaccines remain free.
International Certificate of Vaccination
- Issued for travel to countries affected by yellow fever
- And to countries exporting poliovirus, according to the international situation
- Any other vaccines can be added to the certificate at your request
Daily 8 am – 5 pm, except Friday. Bring your passport.
Malaria prevention for travellers Before you travel
Documents
- A copy of your passport
- A copy of a document showing travel to an affected country (visa, ticket, invitation, travel order…)
How it works
- We confirm your destination is a malaria-affected country and that the medicine is safe for you
- You sign a declaration and receive the preventive medicine (doxycycline 100 mg) with written instructions — a 10-day supply is dispensed
- How to take it: one capsule daily starting two days before travel, throughout your stay (up to three months), and for four weeks after you return
- After you return: come straight away to collect the remaining doses and to be checked for infection
Protect yourself from mosquitoes
- Avoid being outdoors after sunset
- Use mosquito repellent, and wear long sleeves and long trousers
- Sleep under a bed net, or in a room with screened windows
- Spray your accommodation with a suitable insecticide
- Skip perfume — it attracts mosquitoes
Doxycycline is not used for people allergic to it, pregnant or breastfeeding women, or children under 8. Tell the doctor about your situation before it is dispensed.

The health office provides preventive services and is not an emergency department. If you are acutely unwell, go to the nearest hospital or call an ambulance on 123.
